The House of Parliament has existed since the 14th century and is one of the oldest democracies in the world.

 Its role is to examine and pass legislation and scrutinizes government activities. 

It is the highest Court of Appeal in the land.

The Abbey was founded in the 10th century by authority of the Roman Catholic Church. Reform in the 16th century brought independence from Rome, developing its own forms of worship

Almost all the monarchs of England have been crowned in the Abbey.

Many are buried here as well as many poets and authors including Chaucer, Shakespeare.
